New Moon of Gemini: Start Strong, Finish Stronger

You know that feeling you get when you take your seat on a rollercoaster? Anticipation, excitement, butterflies in your stomach, maybe a little fear? You feel suddenly awake and alive! But right before you take off on your spiraling, aerial adventure, a disclaimer:

Fasten your seatbelts, remove hats and sunglasses, and keep your hands and feet inside at all times.

The month of Gemini should come with this disclaimer, too! Because like a rollercoaster, Gemini energy doesn’t meander. It moves. Fast. Intentionally. Sometimes so quickly that if you’re not paying attention, you can find yourself swept up in momentum. It is the spark of curiosity, the rapid-fire exchange of ideas, the desire to explore every possibility at once. Those born under this sign tend to embody this energy effortlessly. They are quick-thinking, enthusiastic, bright, and can be charmingly persuasive. They can hold multiple perspectives simultaneously, weaving them together into something that feels both immediate and inspired.

But just like that disclaimer at the beginning of a thrill ride, great speed means even greater responsibility.

Ruled by Mercury, the fastest moving planet in our solar system, Gemini governs communication in all its forms. Thoughts, words, conversations, interpretations. And when you combine communication with speed, you get something incredibly potent. The ability to move mountains… or fall off a cliff. Which is why the focus of this month is not just about movement for movement’s sake—it’s about moving consciously.

Are You Moving Forward or Just Moving Fast?

One of the greatest gifts of Gemini energy is its ability to propel us forward. Things that once felt stuck can shift sometimes effortlessly and in ways we may not have anticipated. Decisions that seemed fraught become clear, opportunities appear where once there were none, and momentum starts to build again. This can and should feel really exciting! But here’s the deeper question, an energetic disclaimer of sorts: is that movement going in the right direction?

Not all movement is moving you forward. Sometimes, it’s avoidance, escapism, a wanderlust that just wants endless new ideas, places, and input without any purpose. It moves away from things, instead of toward something. A classic example of this is a pattern you may recognize in your life:

You begin something new, a project, a job, a relationship, with excitement and clarity. There is inspiration, excitement, even a sense of certainty about where it’s all leading. You invest in it. You organize your life around it. You can already see the version of yourself who has succeeded. But after some time passes, something shifts. That initial excitement fades. The reality sets in. It becomes more of a duty than a delight. Problems arise, the ease gives way to complexity. What once felt expansive now feels heavy. Without realizing it, your focus begins to drift. The same energy that propelled you forward begins to slow way down.

This is the moment where Gemini energy can reveal its gift.

What Do You Do When the Excitement Fades?

It’s easy to stay committed when something feels good. When it’s new. When it’s full of possibility. But what about when it’s not? What about when it asks more of you than you anticipated? When it challenges your assumptions, your time, your patience? This is often where we tell ourselves stories:

“I don’t have the time.”
“It’s probably not going anywhere anyway.”
“It’s just too much right now.”

But if we pause for a moment we begin to see that these are moments where something deeper is being revealed. A lack of time may actually be a lack of prioritization. A fear that it “won’t go anywhere” may actually be a fear of what might happen if you succeed. Feelings of being stressed or overwhelmed might actually be inviting you to push a little past your comfort zone.

Get really curious about these thoughts, examine the feelings free of judgment, investigate it all like a detective solving a case. (Fun fact: The Pink Panther is a Gemini.) This month is about moving and growing but it’s also about learning to stay the course. Imagine if you launched into a rollercoaster ride only for it to stop midway through. You’d feel confused, incomplete, and frustrated. (And potentially, literally upside down.)

Every form of movement in our lives, whether it’s professional, personal, or creative, is ultimately a reflection of our spiritual state. Are we expanding? Are we growing? Are we becoming more aligned with who we truly are? Or are we retreating the moment things become difficult? Here is an easy practice to use this month:

Notice where you feel the urge to quit. Instead of acting on that impulse, pause and ask: What is really happening here?

Get curious rather than reactive. As you explore, you may come up against uncomfortable feelings. That’s okay! It means you’re on the right track. Don’t react or recoil, continue to examine them with curiosity. Where did they come from?

Set an achievable goal. Choose one area of your life where you will consciously stay the course this month, even when it feels uncomfortable. Make it a realistic goal, and finish what you start.
