QUESTION: How do we achieve our goals without being suddenly pulled away?
ANSWER: My first response is that no one can take something from you if you’re not willing to give it to them. If you find you’re pulled in a lot of directions, you’re allowing yourself to be pulled in those directions. If you find that someone is always discouraging you from your goal, you’re allowing yourself to be discouraged. This is why I love the idea of “to-be” lists. It’s like a to-do list but instead of it being a list of things to do, it’s a list of ways to be in order to accomplish what’s on the to-do list. (link to To Be or Not to Be blog).
Because if you’re clear about what you need to be and who you want to become and what you really value, no one will be able to pull you anywhere.
Each day is different than any other day. The energy available to us and what we can reveal is different from day-to-day. There’s never something you should be doing or you ought to be doing or you should’ve done. Do what you feel you need to do and be mindful of what you can do more of. But if you feel like you’re being pulled in different directions, that’s somebody else’s voice. Not your own.
